The Center’s Safe Pet Program

The Center’s Safe Pet Program helps animal victims of domestic violence.

When victims of domestic violence leave their abusers, over half are forced to leave their pets behind because there is nowhere for them to go or the place they are seeking refuge does not allow pets. The Center’s program remedies this situation by providing loving foster care for the animals while their owners begin to get their lives back after the devastation of family violence.

“Every day I remember the Safe Pet Program. I have 3 of my cats with me now that The Center cared for in 2010. Two other cats and my big dog were adopted out.  I know the Safe Pet folks put a lot of work into finding them good homes!”  A past client of The Center and the Safe Pet Program.
