Positive Solutions Intervention Programs

Family Violence Prevention and Intervention:

Domestic Violence Offender Groups (Also known as Batterer’s Intervention)

Certified by El Dorado County, this 52-week program teaches members about the dynamics of violence, power-over strategies, non-violent behavior, nonviolent communication (NVC), and role definition. Groups are offered separately for men and for women. Participants may join throughout the year.

MAAP (Men’s Program)
The 52-week program that we offer here at The Center is referred to as the Men’s Alternatives to Abusive Patterns (MAAP). The MAAP program is designed to help men map out a healthier course for their life that includes a nonviolent lifestyle. We work alongside men on this journey of discovery and growth by creating a safe and welcoming environment. Our groups are intentionally kept small (no larger than 12 individuals per group) to increase connection and effectiveness. We believe that domestic violence is a learned behavior and that the good news is that it can be unlearned. We are excited about partnering with men in helping them become better husbands/partners, fathers and individuals.

You can contact us at 530-626-1450 or 916-939-4464 to set up an intake or for more information. You can also email the positive solutions program coordinator at eddiez@thecenternow.org.

CAP (Women’s program)
The 52-week program that we offer here at The Center is referred to as the Changing Abusive Patterns (CAP). The CAP program is designed to help women discover a healthier way to resolve conflict and heal from past abuse. We care about creating a safe and welcoming environment so that our clients will feel comfortable and thrive in making positive changes in their lives. Our groups are intentionally kept small (no larger than 12 individuals per group) to increase connection and effectiveness. We believe that domestic violence is a learned behavior and that the good news is that it can be unlearned. We are excited about partnering with women in helping them become better wives/partners, mothers, care givers and individuals.

Conflict Management Workshops (Beyond Anger Management)12 Weeks

Our conflict management workshops (also known as our Peace First Workshops) help participants find healthy strategies to resolve conflict. In this workshop participants will learn about how to go beyond anger management and deal with what is behind it (the core issues) and not just how to manage it.

Participants will also learn about what constitutes power-over others and how to use power-with others to resolve conflicts. Some of the topics that will be covered include dealing with anger in a healthy way, nonviolent communication (aka: giraffe language), the power of empathy, listening skills, ways to deal with stress, jealousy, the dynamics of alcohol, codependency and domestic violence, and dealing with transition/separation. The 12-week workshops are available to both men and women. Check out our flyers.

You can contact us at 530-626-1450 or 916-939-4464 to set up an appointment to register for the class or for more information. You can also email the positive solutions program coordinator at eddiez@thecenternow.org.
